Minister Şimşek: "Disinflation continues with determination"

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said that while the Turkish economy continues to grow moderately, the disinflation process continues. Following the growth data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) for the first quarter as 2 percent, which fell short of expectations, Şimşek said the following in a social media post: "Growth in the first quarter was realized as 2 percent annually. The ratio of the current deficit to national income maintained its sustainable level at 0.9 percent annually. We are rapidly implementing the necessary measures against the effects that may arise during the disinflation process with a holistic approach; we are supporting investment, employment, production and exports." Şimşek also said that they are strengthening the foundations of sustainable high growth.
